High-profile Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer is working on his next act. After a longtime partnership with Disney, he now has a first look movie deal with Paramount. Bruckheimer speaks with Bloomberg's Jon Erlichman about the new "Top Gun" and "Beverly Hills Cop" films in the works, and about his new book, "When Lightning Strikes." On October 13, 2010, New York magazine reported that Paramount Pictures had made offers to Jerry Bruckheimer and Tony Scott to make a sequel to Top Gun. Christopher McQuarrie had also received an offer to write the sequel's screenplay. In March 2012, it was revealed by Lockheed Martin F-35 program manager Tom Burbage that the F-35 Lightning II will be used with Maverick as a test pilot in the Top Gun sequel. The plot of the movie would focus on the role of drones and pilots in modern aerial warfare.
