Terminator Genisys: 1984 Isn't As Expected

Terminator Genisys is the fifth installment in the Terminator series. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, reprising his role, along with Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, and Jai Courtney.


The Terminator Genisys plot follows soldier Kyle Reese (Courtney) in the war against Skynet, the artificial general intelligence and network of machines seeking to destroy the human race. In a sequence of events similar to 1984's The Terminator, John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the Resistance, sends Reese back in time from 2029 to 1984 to protect Connor's mother, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke). Like the 1984 version, Sarah Connor is being targeted by Skynet. But when Reese arrives in the past, he discovers the timeline has been altered, and Sarah has been raised by a reprogrammed Terminator, known as the Guardian (Schwarzenegger), since her childhood.

As of July 28, 2015, Terminator Genisys grossed $86.3 million in North America and $219.3 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $305.6 million. Production and marketing puts the film budget up to about $255 million.
